The lone warrior Colin travels with the wise-cracking ghost Amergan through the ages searching for the immortal despot Marcus Octavius, who killed his lover on the Celtic plains tens of centuries ago. On his quest, he discovers New York is submerged, and one dominant monolith fortress towers over the seas. Colin can save the survivors, but his sword only hungers for the blood of one man. Despite many lifetimes of training, Colin has failed to vanquish Marcus on the great battlefields of history. Can he finish what he started and stop Marcus? Will Colin lead the people to freedom or become consumed by hate? There can be only one. Written by Tom Benton
My brief review:
I'd read a great deal about this film and it was pretty positive and that many felt it was better than the original live action movies and given the last few, it couldn't be any worse.
The first thing I like was the artistic style of the animation, although there did seem to be way to many mulletts lol Everyone was tall and willowy, reminding me much of Spike in Cowboy Bebop.
The action was fast passed, brutal, and bloody with excellent fight sequences; with weapons ranging from Samurai Swords to rather scary chainsaws lol! Even the story and script was pretty good. The most notable difference between the live action films and this anime is Colin McClouds focus on revenge and hunting down, over 2,000 years, the Roman ruler, Marcus Octavius, the man who had crucified Colins wife and destroyed his homeland. For me it did give Colin a very human side, if not a slightly mad one, I mean blimey, chasing someone down for 2,000 years is possibly a tad insane pmsl
This film is most deffinately an adults only, given the brutality of the fight scenes, sex and nudity, as well as the explicit language. But it is still an excellent film and well worth a look see...
Like many at the Mega Recon (The Hub, Doncaster) myself and Demona sat through, what felt like 5 hours, of this film. For me right from the start it was confusing and made little or no sense whats so ever. I've read the odd comment on YouTube and some seem to like it, maybe we needed to see the series, but I don't think it would have made the film anyless strange. It felt as if, before the film was made, someone was taking a walk with the script, tripped, and dropped the lot all over the floor and some nut hadn't numbered the pages and this was the result. We found ourselves asking a number of questions when it finished, such as:
What was with the Carwash idea at the end?
Why the blazes did Utena change into a car?
Who were those two with the blue hair in the bath with a knife and a rubber duck?
And where did they go?
What did the rubber duck mean? Given that it re-appeared in what seemed to be a garage!
And why didn't someone at the Mega Recon tell us that it was hentai with no nipples?
And why did me and Demona stay and watch it?
For me I can only give this file *** stars and that was because we laughed through 95% of it, the other 5% was spent looking confused!
Arrrggghhhh...........I didn't realise what time it was and it's almost 2am...I NEED to get off to bed ready for Gayle to pick me up at 9:30am. I want to make sure I'm up, breafsted and all dressed in my mega outfit, make-up and the lot...eeek I'm so excited!!!!
