Well, I haven't seen it but i hear that the Live Action version of Death note is good, so there is a chance that it will work, and with the techology and special effects of today, there's a good chance that they can make it work and make it work well.
I also hear that there is going to be a Live Action movie of Cowboy Bebop and of Dragon Ball.
Hmm... This is a difficult one... I generally don't think they can capture the true essence of an anime or manga, in live action form as the original format is limitless and left to the imagination of the creator and reader. In live action (especially westernised) they try to over do it and does not capture the true essence of the original anime or manga. For example - I don't know if anyone members The Fist of the North Star Live action movie (granted it is only one example) - but it is a great casing point - What is the point in creating a live action film when everything has been done excellently the first time around? And this hasn't only been done to anime and manga, but comics, video games and of course Japanese cinema in general. Honest opinion - Its time to leave anime and manga as it is and use some initiative and make up some original storylines for live action movies, instead of spending a load of money and time making a mockery of the anime/manga medium.
Oh and I'll be gutted if they westernise DBZ and Cowboy Bebop! CGI version could be good (especially if done by Square) but Live action Vegeta and Spike? Not for me - ta!
